Michiel A. Bloemsma
Michiel A. Bloemsma represents privately held companies and entrepreneurs in connection with general corporate and commercial transactions and litigation matters. He assists both U.S. and foreign (including Dutch and other European) clients with establishing their business organizations, including advice with respect to choice of entity and drafting and negotiating of shareholders’, partnership and LLC agreements. Michiel also represents clients with joint venture contracts, M&A transactions, and various other commercial transactions such as loan and security agreements, sales and distributorship contracts and software licensing agreements. Michiel also counsels clients with respect to employment matters. He has written a number of articles on U.S. legal aspects of doing business in the U.S. for foreign companies.
Michiel received his Dutch law degree (LL.B) from Leyden University School of Law in the Netherlands in 1983, an LL.M degree from Columbia Law School in 1984 and his J.D. degree from Cardozo Law School in 1993. He practiced in the area of Dutch corporate law and international business transactions with two major Dutch law firms for five years before he joined the Firm in 1993. He is fluent in Dutch and has a basic knowledge of French and German.

- Participated in a panel presentation on buy-sell agreements at a LawPact conference in San Francisco.
- Gave a presentation in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, about legal aspects of doing business in the U.S. at a seminar organized by The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce in the U.S.
